SPOTLIGHT
NEWS UPDATE – APRIL
2009.
Where do we start? It
is
absolutely amazing what CATS Kidz have achieved since our last
newsletter! I am sure I will forget
something or someone
– so if I don’t write it – well done!
<>
We
had great success at Milton Keynes Festival with all 3 senior troupes
qualifying for the Regional Finals of All England!
Imogen, Shannon
and Jasmine won 1st with Eclipse and won a trophy for best! Sophie was placed in her solos and won a
Scholarship to Arts Ed Summer School! We had many successes and it was
a very
good standard and valuable experience.>
<>Our own East
Warwickshire Festival was again very well organised by our
excellent volunteer Committee. Thank you
for giving so much of your time!>
Again we were faced
with too many entries
from CATS and must seriously cut down next year with so much pressure
on our
resources. It is a manic time! I think
next year we must consider solo, duet and trio entries only from Pupils
whose
Parents have the time to commit to help us to run the Festival. The Ashlawn School
venue is under review and we might have to book elsewhere. But that’s
next
year! Thank you once again for all your
support and help.
We won the Teachers
Shield and many many of
the trophies too! New Schools came and
we hope they will return as they said the competition was good!
<>Sunday
5th April found us with 4 coaches booked and ready for our
performance at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London to appear in Sunday Night
Live! Over
300 CATS supporters travelled to watch the show where our kids were
absolutely
amazing! The best on the bill and
positively the best performance of our 4 routines that we have ever
seen! The audience cheered and clapped and
the kids
said it was so uplifting to have such response!
Our dressing room was 4 flights up so it was an
exhausting day but so
worthwhile to see the kids enjoy themselves with memories that will
last them a
lifetime! Thank you to our lovely
Chaperones, Helen, Elaine, Emma, Liz, Elaine, Jo, and Lesley.><>
School
News now – our STRICTLY STREET classes continue to boom, please
encourage
brothers, sisters and friends to join us.
Jo, Dani and Ruth organise and teach and are already
working on teams
and routines! We are introducing a
Musical Theatre workshop for our Strictly Street Kidz and hope they
will stay
on another hour and enjoy singing and acting parts from all the best
Musicals
like Hairspray; High School Musical and Mama Mia etc. etc.! We need boys and girls now for our Wednesday
Teen
Street class – we are hoping to develop this into a Musical Theatre
class too,
do get your friends to come along!
><>Ruth
Adamek is now working as Principal Teacher and helping with admin. And
still
dancing too of course! Many thanks Ruth.>
<>Jo
and Wendy are off to Camp
America,
in July, working
through the summer. Good luck girls come
back and show us the ‘photo’s!>
<>
Zoe Harker is enjoying life immensely as a Dancer in
Tenerife
(see post card on board) she sends her love and will see us again in
August.>
<>
Connor has been back twice to visit us from Germany
where he is in We Will Rock
You. A brilliant contract for his first
professional show! He loves the life!>
<>Best
wishes and love goes to Vanessa & Stephen who were married last
week. Amy and Grace were bridesmaids and
looked lovely as did Vanessa who wore a beautiful ivory wedding dress –
you all
looked stunning! CATS did a cabaret for
the evening celebration and everything went perfectly.
We all had a lovely day and the food was
great – thanks to Sally!
><>This
Saturday the 18th we start work on “VARIATIONS” the Schools
34th annual Show at Rugby Theatre.

all
about!>
<>
Our R.A.D. Intermediate Foundation Ballet class are
taking their exam in
Manchester
at
the beginning of June. They are
attending a 2 Sunday course at Nottingham
10th
& 17th May to help them be their very best!
This is a technical exam of a high
vocational standard and the girls have been working for over a year
from when
the class was introduced for promising 10 year olds.
The ballet work has to be secure as this is
the first exam which has pointe work.
The girls are now 11 –
rising 12
year olds which is an ideal age for this first vocational exam. The grades syllabus really works if the
children are keen, interested, and show promise!
Good luck girls!>
<>
We
have 2 huge I.D.T.A. Exam sessions coming up on 25th April
and 2nd
May. Make sure that you keep watch
on
the notice board and up to date with any extra classes you can get to. It all helps!
>
<>
Ruth and Jo are organising entries for Rochelle
Dance Festival in
Coleshill on 3 Sundays – 7th, 14th & 21st
June. This is for beginners to help them
get some experience at performing.>
Such a good idea to
have a go! The All England Festivals
are for seasoned
performers, but it’s good to have other ones to practise!
Watch the closing date it’s 5th
May and coming up fast!
<>Vicki
is choreographing “Oklahoma”
for Rugby Theatre in June. Several
seniors are taking part. Helen Dulcamara
is the Producer. Helen will be taking
some Musical Theatre workshops with CATS after the Show finishes its
run.>
<>
Watch out for a Family Disco Fun night to be held in
July before Schools
break up. CATS Kidz will be entertaining
with a cabaret including our Strictly Street Kidz!
Great fun for all the family!>
<>
CATS HALLOWEEN PARTY NIGHT at the LMRCA Club, Hillmorton Road on Saturday 31st October. Fun, Games, and Steve’s Disco!
Great Stuff!>
<>
There will be another set of R.A.D. Ballet Exams and
I.D.T.A. Exams
before Christmas so if your child wasn’t quite ready for the current
exams they
should be well on track and successful before the end of the year!>
<>
Right – this was last months happenings – hope you
all had a good Easter
holiday now it’s back to work!
More
news soon!>
